Practice Management -UT Health Houston Periodontics

Greetings Perio Residents of UT Health Houston School of Dentistry,

You are being offered a limited set of MP4 lectures I have recorded for the benefit of LSU Perio residents on behalf of a request I received from my good friend and colleague, Dr. Pooja Maney.

Why devote time to practice management class when you do not have a practice and you are inundated with work to complete the requirements of your residency? Very simple.  A mistake or two in residency on a test can cost you a few points or maybe a letter grade.  A management mistake can cost you many thousands of dollars. My mission in creating this series is simply to give you a glimpse of the real world, make the transition into practice easier and perhaps help to prevent mistakes.

These represent to a certain degree, one clinician’s view on the many aspects of practice from the viewpoint of a joint owner of a highly successful, two doctor periodontal practice located in a medium to large southern city. Together with my wife we managed 3 perio offices in The Greater New Orleans Area for 35 years. The business side of dentistry is changing. Getting patients has become very competitive. Corporate practices continue to expand their footprint in our profession. Whether you go into a more traditional private practice or a corporate practice, you will find information in the MP4s that will be informative for whichever path you choose.
